At UCL’s Child Health Science for All event, families, researchers and clinicians came together for a vibrant, hands-on day dedicated to exploring how science is transforming children’s health.
Designed to make research accessible and engaging, the event brought cutting-edge work out of the lab and into an interactive, welcoming space for all. Through a range of activities — from immersive games and 3D models to informal “meet the scientist” sessions — attendees were able to discover how research translates into real-world impact.
The day highlighted the importance of connecting people with the science that shapes their lives. By creating opportunities for families to engage directly with researchers and clinicians, the event fostered curiosity, understanding and trust — helping to demystify complex scientific ideas and show how they contribute to improving child health outcomes.
At its core, Child Health Science for All demonstrates the power of public engagement. It not only inspires future generations of scientists and healthcare professionals, but also ensures that research remains relevant, inclusive and grounded in the experiences of the communities it aims to serve.
